Bio:
Dr. Andreas Papapetropoulos is Professor of Pharmacology at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and Affiliated Investigator at the Biomedical Research Foundation of the Academy of Athens. He has been Adjunct/Visiting Professor at European (Maastricht University) and North American Universities (McGill University, LSU, UTMB, UMDNJ), over the last two decades. Dr. Papapetropoulos is a fellow of the British Pharmacological Society and the American Heart Association, and Associate Editor of the British Journal of Pharmacology and Pharmacological Research. He has served on the editorial board and as ad hoc referee for more than 60 international journals and 28 private and state funding bodies in Europe, North and South America and Asia. He has served as a National Delegate on the Pediatric Committee of the European Medicines Agency.
Dr. Papapetropoulos has been elected as Secretary General (2016-2022) and President (2022-2024) of the Federation of the European Pharmacological Societies. In addition to his academic work, he has co-founded two biotech companies and has more than 20 years of consulting experience with biotech and pharma companies. He has published 203 articles in peer-reviewed journals that have received more than 29,000 citations (h-index 75). His research focuses on the molecular mechanisms of drug action and the preclinical evaluation of drugs in vitro and in vivo.
